Privacy at Kapsel
Kapsel holds things people wrote for each other. Here's exactly what that means in practice — in plain language, no legal fog.
Nobody can read a sealed capsule
Before the opening date, note text and photos never leave our server — not to other contributors, not to the person who created the capsule, not through any page or request you could inspect. The clock is checked on the server every time, so there is no way to peek early by changing a link. The only exception: you can always see and edit your own note through the private link you're given after writing.
What we store
- The capsule title, cover photo, and the two dates you chose.
- Each note: the text, any photos, and the name the writer typed.
- Email addresses — the creator's, if given, and each contributor's — used only to send capsule notices.
- Nothing else. No accounts, no passwords, no advertising trackers, no analytics profile of you.
How email is used
Email addresses are used for four things only: sending the creator their links, confirming a contributor's note, a reminder shortly before writing closes, and the notice on the day a capsule opens. No newsletters, no promotions, and your address is never sold, shared, or used for anything outside the capsule you took part in.
Who can reach a capsule
Access is by link. The share link lets people contribute; the manage link lets the creator make changes; the entry link lets a contributor edit their own note. Capsule pages are excluded from search engines and aren't listed anywhere. Treat the links like keys — anyone who has one can use it.
Deleting things
A contributor can withdraw their note any time before writing closes, which removes the text and its photos for good. Photos uploaded to a form that was never submitted are cleaned up automatically. If you want a whole capsule removed, write to us with the link and we'll delete it and everything inside it.
